"AUDITIONING FOR FILM AND TV" with Matt Newton
For professional young actors who are represented by an agent or manager and are actively auditioning. In this popular one day workshop, young actors will learn the essential skills to deliver a professional, competitive, confident on-camera audition that will impress tv and film casting directors. Actors will be assigned sides from current tv shows, and acclaimed acting coach Matt Newton will coach them through their material to make strong, interesting, authentic choices, with a focus on listening, memorizing, connecting, and bringing their unique personality to the script. Matt will discuss audition etiquette, eyelines, framing, slating, walking into the room with confidence, and really owning the material to make it your own and help you put your stamp on it. All actors will be sent scripts to be memorized two days before class, and all parents will receive a video of their work after the session for further review. This class is limited to 10 students so that each student receives maximum attention.
SESSION A: Ages 9-12. $150
THE ON-CAMERA EXPERIENCE with Matt Newton (for KIDS 9-15)
Limited to 14 hand selected students, by audition only. Based on popular demand, we are adding a week long tv and film intensive taught by Matt Newton (star of Nickelodeon's "Drake and Josh Go Hollywood," on set coach for the CBS show "Blue Bloods," Netflix's "Orange is the New Black," "Masters of None," and director of "Hide/Seek" and the new show "Pretty People Inc"), with industry guests, classes in auditioning, working on set, scene study, improv, and other essential skills for building a career in TV and film. Selected actors will work exclusively with Matt in this challenging week long on-camera tv and film training camp for serious young actors. In this program, we will take the actors through the process of auditioning, callbacks, and ultimately booking the job and acting on set, while working with challenging scripts (comedy and drama) to enhance their on-camera skills, confidence, audition etiquette, cold-reading, memorization, as well as working on set with camera shots, marks, closeups, etc. Students will learn to work the camera, lights, sound, will direct their own scenes, and will learn all facets of the business. This is a great chance to work in a small, challenging setting with Matt and other professional actors. Students will be assigned material based on their age, and all students will perform their scenes for an agent or manager at the end of the week for honest feedback. All parents receive a complete video and honest critique of their child's work, as well as written feedback from an agent and casting director. Limited to 14 students. Students must have previous acting experience to attend.

Actors will learn what it means to create a strong, professional, bookable audition and what is expected of them through the audition process. Thursday - YOU BOOKED IT! Actors work with partners "on set," with marks, different shot setups, camera angles, and partners. They will work with costumes, props, as if they were stepping onto a real film set. ACTORS WILL DIRECT THEIR OWN SCENES, operate the camera, sound, lights, and learn all different aspects that go into creating a scene on film, as well as the lingo and etiquette on a professional network tv film set.
